During daybreak,
when crickets cease to chirp;
When there's no nova:


A man gallops
like a racehorse
from Itipini  Shantytown  to the city


Down York Road,
Madeira,
Sutherland,
& Mandela Drive;
he is totting parcels…


Then at sunset;
he fondles in his palm
the R5 piece
that’s for the whole family --


And so he goes home;
dawdling,
and blasé
